Privacy policy
The short version: VEIL has no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and what you check stays on your iPhone. Effective October 16, 2026.
We don't collect your personal information through the app. VEIL has no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising code and no servers that store your details, your scans or your history.
What stays on your iPhone
- Erase: the name, city and state you enter, which sites you're listed on, and copies of the removal requests you send. Saved encrypted on your iPhone. "Delete everything" in Erase removes it.
- Nearby and Room Check: Bluetooth sweeps, the lens finder and the night-vision check run on your iPhone. Camera video is checked as it comes in and is never saved or sent.
- Clean Share: photos are cleaned on your iPhone and never uploaded.
- Exposure, Move Mode and Activity: your checklists and activity log are kept only on your iPhone.
When VEIL connects to the internet
- Camera and plate-reader map: VEIL downloads map data for a wide area around you (a square many miles across), never your exact location, from VEIL's map site on GitHub Pages, or from OpenStreetMap's Overpass service as a backup. Like any website, those services can see your IP address.
- Erase name checks: when you check a people-search site, VEIL opens a private search page (DuckDuckGo) or the site itself in a private in-app browser. Those sites see that visit as they would in Safari.
- Removal requests: you send them from your own email account, so they go from your mail provider straight to the data broker. VEIL never sees your mailbox or the replies.
- Shield (coming soon): when it launches, iOS checks web addresses against VEIL's tracker list using Apple's private lookups, which are designed so neither VEIL nor Apple learns which sites you visit.
The waitlist website
If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address, which version of the page you saw, the test price shown, the link you came from, your answer to our optional question, and an anonymous random visitor ID. This is stored in a Google Sheet that only Harder To Find LLC can open, and used only to tell you when VEIL launches and to decide what to build first. We never sell or share it. This site uses no cookies, trackers or third-party fonts.
Your choices
- To have your waitlist email deleted, email veilprivacyadmin@gmail.com and we'll remove it.
- To remove app data, use Erase → Delete everything, or delete the app.
Children
VEIL isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
